Designed To Be Forgotten But It’s Memorable For All The Right Reasons.
There are new wetsuits, and then there are wetsuits that genuinely get you excited about what’s coming next. The brand-new Rip Curl Elasto is firmly in the second category. It’s been a long time coming, and all of us at Watersports Outlet are seriously excited about this one.
Rip Curl has built its reputation on pushing wetsuit technology forward, and the Elasto looks set to take things up another level. Lighter, stretchier and quicker drying, it’s been designed to give surfers more freedom in the water without compromising on warmth or durability. And when you see the technology that’s gone into it, it’s easy to understand why there’s so much hype around this suit.
We’ve been looking forward to getting our hands on it for a while, and now it’s finally here, we can’t wait to see what it can do in the water.

We’ve been lucky enough to get our hands on some Elasto samples here at Watersports Outlet, and honestly, they feel incredible.
The first thing that stands out is just how light the suit feels. Pick it up and you immediately notice the difference, but it’s when you start stretching the material and feeling how it moves that things get really interesting. There’s a seriously impressive amount of stretch, and the whole suit feels like it’s been designed to move with you rather than hold you back.
It’s one thing reading about new materials and performance figures, but getting to handle the actual product is where the excitement really starts. The combination of that lightweight feel, the flexibility and the new lining makes this a wetsuit we’re genuinely excited about.
Of course, we still need to get it out in the water and put it through its paces ourselves. That’s the bit we’re most looking forward to, and we’ll be keeping a close eye on how it performs when we finally get some proper sessions in it.

Rip Curl hasn’t just tweaked an existing wetsuit and given it a new name. The Elasto brings together a combination of new materials, clever panel design and construction techniques, all working towards the same goal: a wetsuit that feels lighter, stretches further and dries faster.
Here’s a closer look at what makes it different.

One of the biggest talking points is Rip Curl’s new Elastomax Jersey, the external material developed to deliver a new level of stretch performance.
A wetsuit needs to move with your body, particularly when you’re paddling, duck diving or getting into position for a wave. Any restriction can make a difference over a long session, so having material that offers greater freedom of movement is a big deal.
The Elasto’s combination of outer jersey, foam and internal lining has been developed to work together, delivering impressive stretch while helping the suit retain its shape. It’s not just about stretching further once; it’s about creating a suit that continues to feel good as you move.
The Elasto has been designed to keep weight down without losing sight of performance.
Rip Curl’s figures put the 3/2mm Elasto at around 900g, compared with approximately 1,100g for the E-Bomb. That’s a noticeable reduction in weight before you even start thinking about how the suit feels when you’re wearing it.
The suit combines lightweight Infinity Foam in the upper body with its new materials to help reduce resistance when moving. The idea is simple: less weight and less restriction, leaving you free to focus on surfing.
And it’s not just a case of how light the suit feels when you first pick it up. Rip Curl states that the Elasto is up to 23% lighter than the E-Bomb when fully wetted out, which makes this a particularly exciting development.

We’ve all been there. You finish a session, hang your wetsuit up and hope it’s going to be dry enough for the next surf. Then you come back to find it’s still wet, cold and not exactly inviting.
That’s where the Elasto’s new E-Dry Thermo Lining comes in.
Made from 100% recycled material, this lightweight internal lining has been designed to move water away from its surface and through specially engineered channels, helping it drain away more efficiently.
The result? Rip Curl says the lining dries 31% quicker than the E-Bomb’s thermo lining and can feel touch-dry in around 25–30 minutes in good conditions, although drying times will vary with the weather.
For anyone squeezing in multiple sessions, travelling with their wetsuit or simply wanting a more comfortable suit to pull on next time, faster drying is a seriously useful benefit.
And the fact that the lining is made from recycled material is another positive.
Another interesting part of the Elasto is the use of Ocena Foam, a plant-based foam made from natural rubber.
Unlike conventional neoprene, Ocena is neoprene-free. It’s an alternative approach to the foam used in wetsuit construction, and Rip Curl has combined it with the Elastomax Jersey and E-Dry lining to deliver the performance it wants from the finished suit.
It’s an important distinction because wetsuit performance isn't down to one material alone. The outer fabric, foam and internal lining all need to work together, and the Elasto has been developed around that combination.
Stretchy materials are one part of the equation, but how a wetsuit is cut and put together matters just as much.
The Elasto features a one-piece boomerang panel, designed to provide unrestricted stretch through key paddling zones. Developed with input from Rip Curl's surf team, this construction is intended to give surfers greater freedom where they need it most.
The suit also features profiled arms and legs, shaped to follow the body more naturally and reduce restriction in key areas.
These might not be the first features you notice when looking at a wetsuit on a hanger, but they can make a real difference to how it feels when you're paddling, popping up and moving around in the water.
Lightweight and stretchy are great, but nobody wants a wetsuit that loses its performance after a handful of sessions.
Rip Curl has also focused on durability, with 100% Ultimate Taped Seams designed to improve seam sealing and help the suit stand up to regular use.
The development notes also reference testers who have put in around 150–200 hours and reported that their suits still feel like new. That's encouraging feedback, particularly for a wetsuit built around lightweight materials and maximum stretch.
Of course, long-term durability is something we'll want to see for ourselves, but it's good to know that longevity has been part of the development process rather than an afterthought.

If there's one thing that gets us even more excited about the Elasto, it's the surfers who will be putting it to the test.
This is a wetsuit built for performance, and it’s set to be a go-to choice for some of Rip Curl’s elite team athletes, including Erin Brooks, Molly Picklum, Lukas Skinner, Mick Fanning and Dane Henry, alongside many more.
These are surfers who demand a huge amount from their equipment. Whether it’s paddling power, freedom of movement or the ability to perform in demanding conditions, their wetsuits need to work with them rather than against them.
Seeing the Elasto associated with athletes at this level gives us another reason to be excited about what Rip Curl has created. It’s not just about making a wetsuit that looks good on the hanger; it’s about developing something that can meet the demands of surfers who push their performance every time they paddle out.
We're looking forward to seeing the Elasto in action and finding out what the team can do in it.

We’ve been talking about this one for a while, so it’s great to finally be able to say that the brand-new Rip Curl Elasto is now available at Watersports Outlet.
Having handled the samples, felt the materials and seen what Rip Curl has put into the design, we’re genuinely excited about this suit. The lightweight construction, impressive stretch, fast-drying lining and focus on durability all make it one of the most interesting new wetsuit launches we’ve seen.
We can’t wait to get ours into the water, put it through its paces and see how it performs in real surf conditions.
One thing to be aware of, though: we've only got limited numbers available, so if you've been waiting to get your hands on the new Elasto, now's the time to take a look.
